Designing Engaging Slide Layouts for Different Content Types

What is a slide layout?

Slide layouts include formatting and positioning elements, as well as designated boxes with dotted outlines called placeholders. These placeholders serve to contain various types of content like titles, body text, tables, charts, SmartArt graphics, pictures, clip art, videos, and sounds. Additionally, slide layouts encompass the theme components such as colors, fonts, effects, and background that are applied to a slide.

Title Slide Layout

The layout known as “Title and Content” in slides has designated areas to insert a title, bullet-point lists, images, and illustrations. To incorporate bullet-point text, you can choose the bullet placeholder and input your desired text, with each press of Enter generating a new bullet for the subsequent line.

To introduce content that extends beyond text in the “Title and Content” layout, you can pick an icon from a collection of six content options. These options encompass a table, chart, SmartArt graphic, images, online images, and videos, allowing for diverse forms of content to be added to this specific slide layout.

Table Of Content Slide Layout

A table of contents template in PowerPoint refers to a pre-made slide that offers a methodical outline of the various sections or subjects addressed in a presentation. This template incorporates a compilation of headings or titles accompanied by their respective page numbers or hyperlinks, connecting to the individual slides they represent.

Simple Text Content Slide Layout

The “Simple Content” slide layout comprises a slide’s title, a subtitle, and a central text box, all of which can be edited.

Two Text Content Slide Layouts

The two-content slide layout is a modified version of the preceding design. The primary benefit of splitting the text into two segments is to enhance the readability and overall enjoyment, particularly when dealing with lengthy content. The elements that can be customized include the title, a potential subtitle, and the two text segments.

Content Slide Layout [Text + Picture]

The Content [Text + Picture] slide layout provides a format that enables you to place both text and an image within two designated areas. This style of layout can be adapted in various forms by rearranging the boxes horizontally or vertically.

Editable components encompass the title, a potential subtitle, the main text, and naturally, the image.

Content Slide Layout [Texts + Pictures]

This layout expands upon the previous one, enabling the inclusion of multiple texts and images within a single slide. Various adaptations are possible, featuring three or more boxes, with options for both horizontal and vertical arrangements.

Editable components encompass the title, any potential subtitle, the main text, and the images.

Impact Message Slide Layout

This layout is widely favoured for delivering impactful messages. It’s commonly employed to emphasize crucial messages or powerful quotations. In this scenario, the design of the layout centres around a prominent text box flanked by image-containing side boxes. This arrangement effectively directs the reader’s attention to the core information. Customizable elements encompass the title, subtitle, images, and text.

Benefits of using templates for slides and layouts
